Hi all,
The AFL completed\it's first season. A success until the very end...I'll explain.
Milwaukee (12-5-1) won the Northern Division with 25 points and a +56 point Diff earned them the top seed in the tourney. Tacoma earned the second seed with 25 points and a +44 diff. Tacoma won the West Coast division with a 12-5-1 record. Miami earned the third seed the Southern crown, 12-5-1 record and 25 points. The fourth seed goes to the final division champ of the Central with 23 points (11-6-1), Kansas City.
The top 16 faced off in a best of three tourney. Milwaukee and its number one ranked defense dispatched 16 seed Detroit, 2-0.
The 14th seed Oakland sent Miami home in two games. 12th Columbus surprised 5th seed Portland and thier top offense with 2 games to none.
Oakland continued its upset mindedness with a 2-1 toppling of the#1 seed Milwaukee.
Columbus battled again passed Birmingham with a 2-1 series victory.
The first ever championship series was held between 14th Oakland and 12th Columbus. Oakland first had to defeat Denver 2-1, and Columbus made quick work of Phoenix 2-0.
Oakland shocked the AFL world by defeating Columbus 2-0.
In Columbus 17-10 and at home 16-10.
QB Vallejo was named MVP having been 6-11 for 91 yards and three TDs.
(remember I play 3 min qtrs)
This was incredibly fun. Unique and exciting. However, this beginning became an unfortunate end, as the AFL league will not advance to the off season. It just sits there. When I click the End Season button...nothing![:@]
I think maybe the long 11 round playoff might have messed something up. I say that because, having been smart enough to follow Gary Sorrells adviced back up my league before finishing the playoffs; however, both leagues are stuck.
I'll post the final standings, stats, and playoffs if anyone is interested?
Thanks Jay
