All forms of WITP have the Unyo class CVEs appearing in both AP and CVE forms
The AP should not be present in the game.

CHS:
Yawatta Maru 1465 = Taiyo
Nitta Maru: 1529 = Unyo
Kasuga Maru: 1383 = Chuyo

Maybe it's a case of multiple ship names? For instance, there were at least two other Kasuga Marus, one at 2000 grt, another at 4000 grt, both sunk in about mid '43. There was a Yawata Maru built in '35 as a 3000t near seas cargo for Hinode KK (sunk in late '43?).

Maybe change them to AKs to avoid confusion with the liners that got converted?

Of course it is. Only the uninformed think anything related to Japanese culture - in any era - is not. If it isn't complicated, it isn't Japanese.

Could very well be.

I know it's a stone pain in the tuchas to crunch the data and identify the individual Japanese ships within a class of vessels, even for the pre-war fleet. Once you hit '42, what with many of the records destroyed, you might almost be reduced to naming new construction as the Rance Mohametz Maru #1-#250; not really, but I'll bet someone just got reeeeal tired.

This does appear to be a duplication. At least as far as I can tell (I am no expert).
