Has this been fixed?

When planes are attacked on the ground and take damage or are destroyed. Does the side that takes the losses still have pilots that are KIA and WIA as a result?
That was always super annoying to me in BTR and BOB both

if a pilot is assigned to a plane, he can be in the plane, if he is not in the plane, then if it gets damaged or destroyed, then the pilot is not hurt
so a plane in ready status that is hurt, the pilot has a chance to be hurt, but not from planes that are not in the ready status (damged, need repair)
the SAS bug as we called it, that has been found and fixed (Pilots being killed 2 or 3 days after there plane was damaged)

So are planes that are sitting an an airbase on the ground, are those planes considered to be in ready status?
I find it highly unrealistic that such planes if they were bombed or strafed would produce pilot casulties

if they are ready for take off, then yes, they have a pilot in them, that is part of the reaction range settings
so, would say, a unit on 60+ minute timeing, would have a better chance of not getting hit with pilot losses if the planes were hit, then a unit on 4 or 8 minute reaction timeing

Logical - nice, I like it. Of course, the debate will be the % chances at each readiness!

Even in high readiness states the chances should be very low to get pilots killed as they usually do not sit in their planes and wait for orders to take off. They have their ready rooms/bunkers to wait for anything to happen. But pilots ordered to take-off should really be in danger to be strafed and hurt.

4 minute readiness means that they are close to the aircraft (in the ready room, which might only be a hut - very few airfields had bunkers for the pilots to wait in, and they wouldn't have stayed in them if they did!), and anything under 1 hr means they are on the airfield. Whilst you could argue that a random number of pilots should get hit at 60mins readiness and any pilot not just the ones for the a/c hit, I am quite happy with the actually assigned pilot getting hit occasionally as the implementation. How would we tell anyway? Also, we don't have training to have accidents in, so you've got to balance it out.

one test I ran, with the LW not taking off, I got 30 kills, and 63 damaged planes, the LW lost 12 pilots KIA and 30 WIA
which seeing that the LW should never of got caught with that many planes on the ground, I think they got off easy (don't know how badly wounded any of them are)
but, that said, we also have had talks about giving the pilots a little better chance of "Bailing" out of a killed plane, being WIA rather then KIA (which all the work I have done on adding names, I really hate to see the pilots get KIA)
this is one of those that you can argue either way, it is too bloody and it is too pain free
