Hi, I read Trotter's review and some of the forum posts and decided to buy. I downloaded from Digital River and installed, but the game would not work. When I click on play I get a black screen, some music, and then it freezes. So I uninstalled, reinstalled, and same thing. So now I am redownloading. My first download is 666,953 MB, Digital River's download page says the download is 682.94 MB, and my current download says it is 651.3 MB.

How big are your (working) downloads?

OK, I downloaded it again, exact same size. It still doesn't work...

When I first launch from the CoI Command Center I get the familiar red "Loading" screen, hear the music, and then a black screen. I can only exit by hitting my Start button and closing the "unresponsive program".

The error report is:

Have tried to run in Win 98 compatibility mode, does nothing.
Have turned off DirectDraw, nothing

I got my old CC3 disk to run last night, thought I would try the re-release, but now I am pulling my hair out! Any more suggestions?

try holding down ctrl when you launch.

alternatively

download the intel codec from CSO Downloads in command centre

Command Centre\CSO Downloads\Utiliteis\ Intel Codec for CoI

then run that before launching. (only needs to be run once)

Thanks Schrecken, the disabling videos got it to finally load. On the other hand, my CSO Downloads in the command centre button doesn't work. I tried searching for the Intel codec on the forums but haven't found it yet.

CSO downloads doesn't work

That means you didn't do a full install... easily missed.

Run CloseCombatCC.exeFrom your support folder

C:\Program Files\Close Combat\Close Combat III\Support\CloseCombatCC.exe

Hmmmm...I did install it the first time, but just to be sure I re-installed the Command Center.

I can get into the command center and can access some of the buttons (Battle HQ, Mod Swap, Manuals and MM CCIII client) but CSO downloads, Matrix Games and Closecombat.org buttons don't get me to the relevant sites.[&:]
