code is wierd

anything can be ship based - if it is based on a ship to start with or if it is in a carrier slot - and in fact we have carrier based 2 engine bombers in RHS (Doolittle raiders and also a version of the USMC PBJ designed for the task).

torpedoes can be carried by any bomber, patrol plane or torpedo bomber - and possibly by anything that can carry a bomb - but no matter how many you code - you get only one torpedo per plane - and then (if you put any torpedos in) you get only 1 or 2 bombs at extended range (or non-torpedo targets)

base size is determined by the max load setting of the plane - period apparently - no variations - a base can be a ship if the plane is "carrier capable" OR IF the units starts on a ship

you can put a B-29 on a submarine - and if you do it will work. I once had zeros on Nagato (typo for A6M2-N). they worked fine.

a bomber without torpedoes carries either normal load to normal range or a reduced load (half or 2/3 - it depends on how you define normal load) to extended range - and never true max load to any range

Thanks; so a fighter can be put in a BB? do i need to put it carrier able? and it will land on it too? For example Italians had Re2000 for BB protection in late war, the fighter was catapultable and then went to a land base. Not a problem for Italians since their ship based floatplanes did the same.

Another question is the land based ASW patrol cannot be made to follow a Task force.

Yes - a zero on Nagato would land on Nagato. No problema - except it could not really do that! I have Ikitsushima carry a gigantic flying boat - but it should not be used if the ship is not stationary.

No - patrol planes do not follow task forces. But they patrol the entire area with as much effect as they could have if they did follow the force IRL.

Thanks. I have been just reading about War in Mediterranean and it was very comon for planes: Light bombers and sometimes even Medium bombers following convoys for ASW escort. I guess that was because the visibility is much better in Me and maybe a clearer water and or less depth.
