I just downloaded the free version and need a few tips for getting started. I've already played the tutorial but I'm a bit lost. This game reminds of Panzer General which I used to play on the playstation1 except SP:WaW looks alot more complicated.

I mostly play World war a world devided and I saw this free download, another game by Gary Grigsby.

Greenmachine,

Ask your SPWAW questions and somebody around here can answer them.  Try to be specific.

Sorry, mainly I just need a guideline for starting a long WWII campaign as Germany.  How many and what types units should I select at the start?  Also is the campaign linear?  What I mean is if you lose battle it would open alternative missions or vice versa?

In Panzer General if you won certain missions that the real Germans lost it would open up scenerios like Operation Sea Lion or if you got far enough the Invasion of Washingtion DC.

Step 1.  Choose Single Player (Solitaire)
Step 2.  Select WW2 Campaign
Step 3.  Choose the German flag
Step 4.  Select the date you want to start
Step 5.  Buy your core units
Step 6.  Select the theater you want to fight in

The campaign proceeds linearly by date with no alternate battles.  Win or lose you move on to the next battle.  All battles are based on an historical battle in the chosen theater by date.  Battles are roughly 1 per month starting in summer 1941.  Prior to summer 1941 the battles are less frequent.
