Hello

I am having trouble downloading UFO:ET to my Toshiba Satellite, i have been repetively trying to download for almost 12 hours now. My problem is that I initiate the download and after some time the download stalls and times out. I have bitdefender antivirus, internet explorer and firefox, and they are updated as of today. I have already contacted the matrix staff over the phone connection for help, and i have followed their suggestions to shutdown firewall and my antivirus program.

Can anyone give me any more suggestions

I am a huge fan of X-com and am so thirsty to play this game. When i was around 15 a friend of a friend had x-com and i thought it was so cool...at that time our family did not have a computer to play X-com...years later, and before amazon & ebay, i had a playstation and always rented X-com, but everytime the game would freeze. But I would always rent it nonetheless just to play it. My brother took my playstation and that dream ended.

I am looking forward to playing UFO:ET so can you please help me.

Have you tried a download manager, like www.stardownloader.com yet? Have you downloaded other very large files over your internet connection?

I never thought of using a download manager (such as stardownloader.com). I have never downloaded a large file before on my computer. This may sound naive but can i trust stardownloader.com? I know i can trust you Erik because you are a administrator...on your advice i will look into stardownloader.com.

thanks for the suggestion[:)]

Yes, we use it and recommend it - that's the only one we recommend. For large downloads such as this one on somewhat iffy connections it can be invaluable. Let me know if it helps. You should also clear your internet cache to make sure any incomplete downloads and temporary files are gone.

I can vouch for star downloader, which I used based on Matrix's suggestion.

Worked great last night.  After ordering, I first started the normal download, and I was doing alright.  Between 150-200 kb/s, but not always steady.  After a few minutes, I decided what the hell and use stardownloader.  Cancelled the regular download, and when I wasn't using the internet for anything else, I averaged around 700 kb/s downloading the file in 4 parts.

Granted, it took about 20 minutes after the download actually finished before the file was re-compiled or whatever (wish I had known about that ahead of time), but that part of the order went well.

Just double click on the download. If previous Matrix downloads are anything to go by, it's an EXE file, so double clicking will execute it.

If you're on Windows XP or later, just double-clicking the file should automatically open it, then double-click on the executable file inside to start the installation. If you are on an earlier version of windows, you can use a utility such as www.winzip.com to open it up.
