I've gotten a few crashes to desktop when throwing grenades.

I've attached the dxdiag file. Not sure what file you're looking for when the crash file is mentioned though.

The same thing happens to me as well. I don't think it's card related because Steel Angel has an Nvidia card and I use an ATI card.

I've also seen this, but only once. It happens just as the grenade leaves the soldier's hand..

Do you have a save game from which it is easy to reproduce this bug?

Here are my observations about the crash to desktop when throwing grenades. Steel Angel and I are both using Win XP pro SP2, my version did not have the latest updates, I don't know if Steel Angel's XP is up to date. I then transfered my save file to my laptop running vista and at the point were the game crashed it didn't. I then updated my XP machine and loaded the save file and the game didn't crash. This doesn't mean the game won't crash later, just that I got past the crash by applying the most current updates to XP.

Edit: Just played for around 30 minutes and got the ctd when I threw a grenade. Updating XP does not seem to be the fix.

This has happened to me at least 9-10 times. I also have a Nvidia card. It's so bad that when I want to throw a grenade, I save the game first. [;)]

I had this problem happen to me last evening while playing. I had one of my soldiers throw a grenade and then the game crashed to the desktop. Unfortunately, I don't have a save.

Like Wolf Woof, I am also running a Nvidia card under Windows XP with all updates.

Its happened once to me. I was given the option to send a report to MS, but not realizing this was a problem didnt save the info. IF it happens again I will try and save the info it gives to see if it gives us a better idea what is causing it. I am using an Nvidia 8800GTX.

I don't think the problem is related to the graphic card. I'm using an ATI 1950xt and I have the same thing happen.

Ok, this savegame was crashing 100% last night. Today, it isn't. The crash happened when the guy in back with a pistol threw a grenade.

Nvidia 7600, AMD X2 3800, 2 GB RAM, Windows XP (no SPs)

Ok, I've got the grenade-tossing area twice over the past two or three days playing.  This last incident occured as I was at the open entry hatch of a downed UFO and once I clicked the grenade to toss it I was sent to my desktop.  On both occasions there is the standard Microsoft error message.  Would it help if I somehow cut and pasted it here the next time it happens?  I have a saved game, but I'm not sure how much good it will do because the crash didn't occur until quite a while after the load game started.
 
Is this situation being investigated?

This is just an observation...anyone else seen what I am about to describe?

It seems that the crash occurs only when a soldier "lobs" a grenade. I have soldiers that lob them and soldiers that seem to throw them on a more or less straight line. I guess the straight line ones have more "throwing" points. Anyway, the only time the crash seems to happen is on the lobs.

I installed the patch and I have had two CTD when throwing granades. Evidently this bug hasn't been fixed. I can't upload a log file because one isn't generated. Anybody else still having this problem?

Hmmm. I just bought this game last week and i'm getting this grenade crash too. Haven't they fixed this bug? Honestly!!!

I'm also getting this problem. I'm on a fresh install of XP SP2, nVidia GeForce 8600 graphics card. It's a shame, because I always seem to forget to save before throwing, yet the grenades are so useful.

Ditto Ditto. Same happens to me -- seems to occur when I am in an alien base. I ctd 100% of the time when I lob a grenade in the base. I have not oberved the problem in other locations, altough it sounds like others have.

I've heard of this.  It seems to be rare but certain computers just seem to not agree with grenades in this game.  If you are playing with a recent version of my mod, you can at least have the game autosave every turn or two so you can get back to the game without losing too much progress.  Though my mod allows aliens to throw grenades too which might just make the problem worse.  [:(]
