Grenades are becoming my favorite weapon in this war. (at least... early on)

I am running 2 man squads with about 5-6 grenades each. ( and Rifle weapon for reaction fire)

When a Alien comes out, i lob a couple of grenages over and most of the time they die in 2 blasts.

I have actually only had a total of 5 people injured over probaly a dozen or so battles.

As a result, i get fewer casualties and several troopers who have been promoted 3-4 times.


Anybody else have any decent tactics/weapons they like?


One thing that is killing me though is money. Seems like im fighting a larger battle trying to retain money more than i am fighting the aliens.

Your money problem probably stems from you grenade habit.

My favorite so far is the stun grenade or the nerve gas grenade. Not only do kill your enemies but you the gas also means they have a much harder time hitting you on the other side of the fume screen.

If you leave a small non-gased area to the side they will be forced to advance one by one into your reaction fire.

Other weapons? Why, yes.
 
Actually, I use ALL the weapons. I especially like the flamethrower. I just walk slowly up to a monstrous armored target and FWOOOSH! down it goes. Of course, that is after having several other soldiers shoot at or move in such a way as to get said monster to stop reacting ...
 
Grenades are my fallback. Even in the original X-Com I used them when I could. I found relying on grenades heavily can be dangerous since I am not always in position to use them. Still, I use whatever is needed as the situation calls for it.
