I'm just getting started. I built my first new base. I can't build a living quarters there. Is that only allowed at your original base? TYIA.

Roger, only at the main base (and then I don't think you can build one, you get one to start)

That bothered me too. Makes no sense that you build a base but can't crew it. Kinda silly.

Hummmm...if you can't crew it, how do you defend it or use it for research. Are we sure this cannot be done?

I AM HOPING THAT OUR MODDERS ADDRESS THAT EVENTUALLY. I MISS MAKING SPECIALIZED BASES, AND RUNNING PRODUCTION FOR PROFIT. IT ALWAYS MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS REALLY IN CHARGE OF SOMETHING. AND SELLING THE "NEW TECHNOLOGY" WAS A WAY TO PAY FOR THE WAR, AND FOR OTHER AGENCIES IN THE "WORLD" TO ARM THEMSELVES. SPEAKING OF OTHER AGENCIES... WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE ARMY AND POLICE THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN THIS GAME? I HAVEN'T SEEN PONCH OR G.I. JOE TAKE OUT AN ALIEN IN MY MISSIONS THUS FAR.

Given how few soldiers you get, I'm not sure you could really crew it even with living quarters.
New bases are basically relegated to air bases. Mind you, it could be quite handy to eventually move all your interceptors from your main base into an adjacent one and use that old hanger space for labs and workshops if money allows down the line.

So any new base that is built is limited to hangers, missile defenses, detection centers and an energy plant? That does seem to be rather limiting.
So strategically, they are useful to detect the alien ships, as a base for additional interceptors, I guess you could refuel a troop transport and, of course, control of the region.
Am I missing something here?

Wow, my dad was on the forums ahead of me. That's a little scary.

Nope. BTW, the second year gets nasty. Believe me, one base is all you need. The enemy takes over a nearby base easy enough.
Try this ...
1 Scout
3 Fighters
2 Battlecruisers
All except one enemy Fighter RIGHT over my main base region, talk about wow! I shot down everything except a BC and it nabbed a side region base. I had just retaken that base only a week before when the enemy conquered it. I am thinking it would be best to relocate the interceptors there and let the base die. Then, I find the enemy base and take the region back.
Every time I liberate the base, the defenses are mostly gone, and I do not have the time to build more. Everything that attacked my from that list was a diversion except the one BC, which went for the base. Shooting down the others was enough of a battle, and I was low on fuel and interceptor health.
Anyway, one base is more than enough. This is a heck of a war!

So you can't buy or transfer transporters on new bases?[&:]
