Display driver stopped working and had been restored

"nvlddmkm stopped working " as an error message when the game crashed.

Oddly i had been playing for 3 hours and no problems at all . left the PC to get a drink came back and it was back in windows mode.
Re-started the game and the screen stutterd and flickered oddly then the same error and crash resulted.

I am using Vista FYI and so cant seem to find/run the directX dialogue program.

system is dual core 2.8Mgz
G/C NVidia 8800 256MB .

Way over min spec. could it be a vista related problem , i saw the game was XP after buying and d/loading it (DUH).

I was really having fun , 1st mission was v v tense and i really want to play it again. will try a re-boot and i did wipe the
anti-aliasing from 2-0 as suggested but to no effect.

In anticipation of a nice response :)

PS i have been through the boards on paradox and the main site too. but no luck there either. I'm asking here as i have found the mods and people very helpful and bright compared to most forums [;)]

well this is rather odd .. updated the drivers through the control panel (bad idea ) and eneded up with the VGC basic and utterly lost the nvidia 8800 ones ! .. so downloaded the latest nvidia drivers and forced them on my PC .. all seems well :)

lets hope vista does not provide ant further oddities as i'm loving the game :) .. although at 1660 megs d/l seems a tad large ( from paradox .. im in euorope )

all well and dandy .. sorry to take up space [;)]
