I am thinking of picking up one of the following, any recommendations on which to avoid?

Fortnight of Infamy: The Collapse of Allied Airpower West of Pearl Harbor (Hardcover)
by John Burton (Author)

Carrier Battles: Command Decision in Harm's Way (Hardcover)
by Douglas V. Smith (Author)

From Mahan to Pearl Harbor: The Imperial Japanese Navy and the United States (Hardcover)
by Sadao Asada (Author)

Black Shoe Carrier Admiral: Frank Jack Fletcher at Coral Sea, Midway & Guadalcanal (Hardcover)
by John B. Lundstrom (Author)

Somebody or other has read the book about Fletcher and commented favorably on it.
Never heard of the other ones...probably ought to get them all and report to the rest of us.[;)]

I can automatically and enthusiastically recommend anything written by Lundstrom. Well researched, detailed, accurate.

Now, if I just had time to read...

Every fleet carrier lost in US history was under Jack Fletchers command when it was sunk (yes, including the Wasp -- Fletcher was the area commander at the time).

If IIRC I checked this one out in the library - seemed like just a rehash of everybody else's work ... and not much "data" ... so at least where I'm at - this one didn't offer me anything.
