video card crash

pacwar worked great with my ATI Rage Fury Maxx video card. I bought the Nvidea Geforce3 ti-500 and now the game locks up with no video after the intro page preceding the scenario selection page.
I have win 98se OS.
Oddly, Wir in Russia works fine. It has a advanced button tab in properties to select dos window but Pacwar does not have the same property selections (only two tabs)
How do I fix this?
