Discussion - Games Exponentially Better After Mods

Hey all,

In light of some of these stunning mods that basically completely change the way this game is played and make it quite an incredible game (IMO), I was thinking about some other games that really stood out after extensive mods. My thought for my McGame award(most changed game after mod ever) is probably MOO3. However, there are some pretty complete Civ 4 mods out there as well.

Your thoughts?

I always like to play the plain vanilla games on easy when I first play them. (I'm not that good a player, just persistant [;)])If they're good enough for a second time then I might try out the mods.
I only have a couple of more missions in this game and then I'll try it out with some of the mods.

I have the Bman mod right now, mainly for the kills tally and interface. I have turned off most of the game change enhancements, although they do allow a player to tweak the game to their liking. Still, the vanilla game was good, too.

SE 4 also comes to mind as a "very good with mods" game.
Although a MoO2 rabid fan, I've never bothered to get MoO3 after its initial crashlanding. Is it really a good game "now" with mods ? which ones ?

OK I finally freed up enough time to justify purchasing the game!  It's all loaded, ready to go...but all this talk of mods has me wondering.

Are any of the mods here "must have" in terms of new 1st time players, you think?  Lemme know before I get seriously into playing, thanks!

BMan's mod is very very good. Highly recommended!

You can turn off all of the game enhancements (except his newer versino of being wounded, the vanilla game has wounded soldiers down for a long time and BMans has them a lot less.)

Personally, I prefer the old equation for wounded = time in hospital. I think the game may generate more missions this way but I have not had many months since I used the mod. I am only 13 days with it. But wow! what a 13 days! [:D]

The Franken Mod that has Bmans and Moriaitys combined gives you a awsome amount of new and cool stuff.

yeah civ4 seems to pop into mind immediatly, they have that Fall from Heaven mod, complete re-vamp to a Fantasy setting everything is changed from the ground up it is essentially a new game...SPWaW mod DV/DVRN is great, also for RPG fans Baldurs gate 1 & 2 have some great modes (Weidu.org), and Temple of Elemental Evil has a complete re-vamp at (Co8.org)..., there is also the Slitherine games mod.

really great mod, they add tons of new material, encounters, maps, they went so far as to add the Bordello part of the module back in, way worth it.
