Unit data request

I'd like to request that a line be added to the right-click unit information window that would tell you WHAT the unit is. It's all well and good to know that it's the 3/111st Abt, but it'd be even better to know that it's a Tiger tank...

I agree. It is the one down fall of playing an historical battle, not being able to get an easy handle on the units. I can not blame someone who has put the effort in making things correct for using the right names. When it comes to playing it however the time involved in clicking on all the units to see what it is and trying to get an over all feel is daunting.

You can change the unit designation to a more discriptive one to suit yourself. My tank company commanders were just listed as PzKpwfIIIe so I changed the name to C CO Cdr, etc.

An old soldier but not yet a faded one.
OK, maybe just a bit faded.

Right, but when you're playing a scenario, you have to be able to tell exactly what something is from the picture and armament. This isn't too hard for me, but some of the pictures are wrong, and (for example) I can't tell exactly what kind of PZ. IV something is, just early or late.

My point exactly. I'm not able to quote OOBs from memory so I can really use a line telling me what weapons system a unit is. Even the pictures aren't all that helpful for me, even when they're correct! Knowing what it is determines what I do with it, so it's kinda critical info...

You have a valid point, Dean and guys. I used to change the names of all the units but then realized I was not helping the situation.

Occasionally I will do that with infantry, but for vehicles and artillery it can be very confusing.

That would be my recommendation to all up and coming scenario designers. Leave enough info in the unit ID box to allow the player to know what kind of unit it is.
