i'm new to this game

my problem: when i play the mission "defend" in operation shinning fortress, i kept losing archon even when all the enemy destroyer, cruiser and frigate are destroyed and left only fighter wing, is this suppose to be the scenario?
note: i play as a wing fighter

The Archon is not scripted to be destroyed. I had no problems with that mission so I don't know what the problem could be. My advice if your having trouble with the fighters is to take a fighter wing command. From there you can easily mop up enemy fighters while your allys in cap ships deal with whatever enemy cap ships they encounter. If the reverse happens and your having trouble with the enemy cap ships, then you might consider restarting that operation or loading a saved game. Because you probly didn't destroy enough cap ships leading up to the defence mission.
