Tricks & Workarounds

How about a collection of usefuls "things" for this game?
I mean things like the workaround for the sound bug(Let DXdiag run in background).
I heard of other bugs and I guess we have more useful tricks and workarounds, would be nice to collect them all in one thread to get new players better into the game.
So anythings else that could be useful to know?

When attempting to transfer to another ship/squadron, you need to click the bullets on the left side of the list to expand the trees out and choose a destination for the xfer. Took me quite a while to figure this one out..

If non-technical tricks are also allowed:
If a missile is incoming and you launch a decoy, you need to *cancel* your afterburner, not try to hit the afterburners to put distance between you and the decoy. Allow your momentum to carry you outside of the splash. A decoy is slightly stronger than your standard engine, so will attract missiles if your afterburner is off. A decoy is nowhere near as powerful as your overloaded engine, so your afterburners will attract missiles even if you have launched a decoy.
At least a few people aren't aware of this and might consider it a bug unless they know better.

If you are unable to pan the view in virtual cockpit, deactivate TrackIr... I have TrackIr 4 that doesn't work in the game, but somehow it keeps the view centered as long as the trackir-program is running (symbol in the task bar to the bottom right of the screen). Just right click it and exit before running the game, it will restart the next time you restart your computer, so no worries.
I just figured this one out, so I thought I'd share it if anyone else have troubles
