148th US Field Artillery Battalion

This is a strange unit - beginning in fact as the 148th FA Regiment - splitting up - but remaining a regiment when shipped to Australia - there to disband the HQ battery and reform/rename as the 148th battalion. It retains its 75 mm guns but is fully motorized - likely reorganizing as 6 gun batteries - and never went to Canton Island as we have it. Instead, it forms up as a battalion at Darwin on June 17, 1942. It actually reached Australia on January 6, 1942 - as a regiment (but apparently with about the same number of guns). The absent battalion was renamed the 205th FAB and remained in Washington - at Port Angelus. I have reassigned the 148th to the right place/date (in two flavors - 4 scenarios at Darwin in June and 2 at Brisbane in January) and created a 205th in the US as well.
