Odd installation issues

Had the game for a while. Don't recall any problems when I first started playing. It has been off the HD for a while but had the itch to play again, so I installed it. The problems I seem to be having are:
Installing the game without any patches works fine however I can only see the full Korsun Pocket scenario - not the others.
Patching with v 1.10 fails in the beginning when trying to overwrite what seems to be a font file - install says its in use. I have the option to try again or ignore. If I ignore the patch completes, but the game crashes to desktop when I try to load it. The same is true if I try to apply the other two patches.
Ideas?
