I think my problem was covered here

Unfortunately I do not understand the solution, when I try to run the game I get this message, This application has failed to start because d3dx9_26.dll was not found.

I downloaded this file:-
download d3dx9_26.dll from
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/pop.php?d3dx9_26

I do not understand what to do with it, would someone mind giving me a completely idiot proof explanation of what to do?

Download latest DirectX 9c Version from MS:

Downloaded the file and installed it - I still get the same error message

Do I have to disable Direct X 10? Any other ideas?

, ok a reinstall and rerunning the file from Marc's link got rid of the direct x 9 error message, now I get another one

UFO requires a graphics card that supports vertex and pixel shaders to run!

Does that mean I need a new(different) graphics card or will an updated driver do it?
