The game only properly saves its option settings if you click the menu item to quit. However, if you play the game in a window and click on the window close X-icon in the upper right hand corner. Then, options will not be saved properly.

Hi Mark,
The game saves the options screen as soon as you back out of it in both windowed and non-windowed mode. This gives you a last minute "Cancel My Changes" option in windowed mode if you realise you dont want to keep changes you've made.
