Please pardon a slightly off-topic post from this familiar face ... I am working on a book called WORLD WAR II AND THE GLOBAL WAR TERROR and I am starting to write (and post) sections here at

http://www.nimblebooks.com/wordpress/category/against-a-dark-background/world-war-ii-and-the-global-war-on-terror-gwot/

I'd like to encourage friends to stop by the Nimble Books website and share your thoughts with me (there). Also, please feel free to pass this URL along to other lists or websites you frequent. I want to start building an online community on this topic.

Articles so far are 'Introduction", "Nomenclature", and "Versailles" (they appear at the URL in reverse chron order ...)

Cheers, Fred

At the risk of sounding controversial, one easy parallel to draw between the lead-up to WWII and the GWoT, is the bombing of the Reichstag in 1933. This is not to say that the Bush administration planned to bomb our own buildings, but rather, that they have capitalized on it in a more subdued, but still familiar, way.

p.s. oops, I should have shared with you (there) as you requested, but the liberal cat is out of the bag.
