Sure, I rolled 96-100 right? 3 times in a row?
This is a great game; love the X-com feel (it's good to be home) but c'mon; something is seriously screwed up with hitting things...

It wasn't 100% chance. Frustrating but these things happen. That's why you have saved games.[;)]

Fair enough; once I can handle - but 3 times in a row (from the same soldier mind you) is a bit much to believe it's not some sort of bug.
I mean litterally had soldiers right NEXT to the alien (on his left, right and front). My soldiers couldn't hit him (I thought when the first soldier missed; with the 3rd guy, I started paying more closer attention and made sure it said 95% to hit. The single alien wiped us out...

Was he in a doorway ?
there was something about some trouble with targets standing in a doorway ??

I've had a Hall-whatchamacallit (big claw thing) take 16 shots with a plasma rifle before going down.
I almost reached thru the screen and strangled it myself!

Actually no; they were up on a slight rise - standing in the open.

I had a guy in the same cercumstances and all he managed to do was kill one of his own team mates----hit the alien once and his buddy twice---man i didn't know that i knew that many cuss words and i've been around for a lot of years-------can't say that i ever had one of my own people kill one of my own in x-com but have had some misses that just make u sit there and gape in amazement.
Hang in there cause there are many more misses to come------------Love this game and going to have to try it with one of the mods after i've done Hard.

The chance of that happening is 5*5*5%. Or just over 1%. Its NOT impossible by any stretch of the word..

Check your math.
20% of 5% would be 1%.
Doing something with a probablility of only 5% three consecutive times is more likely to happen only in 0.01% of three consecutive tries. That is 1 part per 10,000. Since I've seen it happen far more frequently that that, it is clear that the hit chances listed are NOT the actual final chance of hitting. There is either some other factor going on (doorway, or deliberate hidden thing) or a bug.
