This is the counterpart AAR to Yava's Allied viewpoint. This is where you can view the (alleged) master plan for Japan, and the results of my awesome planning abilities [:D] Also, as time goes on there will be broadcasts from the (soon to be) infamous 'Tokyo Rose', these are obviously intended for the Allied troops, so I'd be grateful if someone could post these in Yava's AAR for me [:)]

Hopefully Yava has covered the few HRs etc in effect, because I'm not going to. (I'm far too lazy) There won't be oodles of combat reports etc to read through, just occassional ones for important events and stuff. This AAR will be updated every week or so of game time, or sooner if interesting stuff is afoot...

So here goes with my

MASTER PLAN
1) Cause as much damage as possible.
2) Make Yava cry

Malaya & SRA
The plan here is fairly simple. There are landings planned at Kota Bharu, Kuching, Miri and Brunei. The Kota Bharu landings will be covered by a force of battleships, the landings on Borneo are going to have to risk it for now, my cruisers are assigned to a future operation already. There are air-raids planned on Singapore, the symbol of British strength in the region, 3 Daitai of Nells are assigned to the airfields with 3 more tasked with neutralising Force Z whilst they lay at anchor. (I'll make them pay for the big show made by their arrival [:D])
The plan is to land further troops at Singora and drive south to capture the AF at Alor Star, and also take the AF at Kuching early. These 2 bases are large enough to support operations by torpedo carrying Nells and Betties cutting off the escape from Malaya, and providing decent coverage to future landings in the region.

Philippines
These are not a priority in my initial plans, landings have been planned on the north of Luzon to keep the US forces busy, there is going to be a slow build up here as and when other operations permit. To this end, the landings at Legaspi have been cancelled, and the forces reassigned to other operations.
I intend to blitz the Clark Field and destroy as much material as possible, especially the much-vaunted B-17s.

The Solomons and New Guinea
The forces initially assigned to Legaspi have been redirected south to Rabaul. The landing ships are covered by a surface TF and the light carrier Ryujo. The Kure 1st SNLF will land, followed by the 4th NLF and possibly the South Seas Det later. There is an additional short term goal here, to draw the RAN into combat and smash them up.

Central Pacific
Landings are planned at Wake Island, supported by Nells based at Kwajalein. US carriers are suspected to be in the region, so it's a case of drop the troops off and scoot. Several slower TFs are planned to drop troops at islands south of the Marshalls as well.
Who could forget the PH raid. The KB has been sent south supported by a TF of replenishment tankers. All of the Kates have been reassigned to Port attack, the groups originally assigned to the AFs have been replaced by Vals. After the raid the KB is scheduled to head for Truk and assess the situation. They will swing back past Wake in case any support is needed on the ground there.

China
I'm undecided here. The plan is to sit back on the south and reassess after the guerilla units are dealt with. In the north a limited offensive is potentially on the cards in a couple of weeks.

TURN 1
The PH raid went ahead, nothing sunk as far as I can tell [:(], but a lot of ships will need some extensive yard time. All of the BBs were reported as heavily damaged, the Pennsylvania looks most likely to succumb to her damage. Losses were fairly heavy, but for now at least, I can live with them. The KB is heading to Truk now, either to support the campaign in the SRA, or to assist in the Solomon chain.

Meanwhile....
Wake Island has fallen, the cowardly Americans were no match for the Emperor's finest and quickly surrendered. The transports will hang around for another turn to unload supplies, but the escorts are heading home to pick up another troop convoy.
Further west the Malaya campaign opens with an air raid against Singapore. The first wave homes in on the airfields whilst the rest head for the docks (that's not meant how it sounds) [:-] A light cruiser is torpedoed, whilst HMS Prince of Wales takes 5 800kg bombs and 2 torpedoes, putting her out of the immediate campaign. Troops are landed at Kota Bharu and northern Borneo, as yet there are no reports from them. Clark Field has been reported as flattened, the USAAF planes all caught on the ground parked in neat lines in the open [X(] Returning airmen are claiming hundreds of US planed destroyed on the ground.

DAY 2 OVERVIEW

Malaya & Borneo
Today started with early morning attacks along the northern coast of Borneo. In a brief fight the important airbase at Kuching was captured intact as British reistance crumbled under the Japanese assault. Along the coast at Miri the local constabulary were unable to stop our forces from occupying the area and hoisting the Japanese flag. At Brunei however, the fighting was much fiercer. British troops are still holding on to their final defensive line, although victory is expected at some point tomorrow as the Brits are outgunned. On the Malayan coast at Kota Bharu the 18th Division spent the day consolidating their position and bombarding the defending Allied troops ready for a big attack tomorrow. Air-raids were directed against RAF facilities on Singapore Island resulting in several RAF machines being destroyed on the ground.
On the southern coast of Borneo a cruiser TF bombarded targets in the Tarakan area on it's way to the base at Palau.



The Philippines
The landing sites on Luzon have been secured in preperation for further reinforcements. Bombing raids against Clark Field and Manilla in conjuction with photo-recon indicate that the US air units have pulled out of the heavily damaged facilities. The first signs of the evacuation of Manilla were witnessed as the submarine I-124 engaged several targets, putting a torpedo into a tanker, and 2 torps into the USS Canopus as they attempted to flee.

The Solomons & New Guinea
A small bombardment by the light cruiser Nagara in preperation for tomorrows landing by the Kure 1st SNLF caused light damage and destroyed at least one RAAF aeroplane on the ground.

Central Pacific
Guam was captured, the crews of two US Navy vessels, USS Penguin and USS Robert Barnes scuttled their vessels in the harbour rather than attempt to fight their way free. Is this an indication as to the fighting spirit of the American warrior?
Further east, and an important lesson was learnt (listen up new guys [:D]) With the KB heading West towards Truk a US carrier was sighted, as well as numerous surface forces presumably hunting for my carriers. Throughout the day they edged ever closer, until in the early afternoon they were approx 180 miles apart. Then it was realised at HQ that the commander of the TF had not conformed his new orders for the airgroups, he was readying to make a further strike against Pearl, with a US carrier 180 miles away [X(] Luckily the weather closed in, so no real damage was done [8D]



Conclusion, days 1 & 2
Overall, not a bad 2 days. I don't claim to be an expert or strategic genius (actually, I'd probably be at the other end of the scale [;)]) I'm fairly happy with the situation so far. Force Z has had it's strength halved for now at least. The USN battleships will require major yard time to be combat ready again, the only downside is that no major Allied ships have been sunk yet.
I've captured my first primary target (Kuching) undamaged, and Nells will be moving in to shut down Allied shipping out of Malaya, Sumatra and Northern Java. Another large AF (Kota Bharu) should be captured next turn and allow me to close off the Malacca straits to most shipping.

Good start mate! Give a go at his CVs I'd say. PH air assets will be out of action for 2-3 mpore days and Lexington starts with Buffaloes so they won't be a match against Zeros.If you can keep the range at 4 hexes, so no Devastators could fly. 

2nd Wave Plans   Malaya, Borneo & SRA   My forces currently landed in Malaya consist of the 18th Division at Kota Bharu, and the 5th Division and  11th Special Base Force at  Singora.  The 5th Division will march south to the large airfield at Alor Star, when this is captured the 11th BF will move south with the air units to close the northern end of the Malacca Straits.  The 18th Division will make a rapid thrust southwards, joined by the 4th Mixed Regiment which is currently en route Saigon.   This will cut the northern defenders off from Singapore, meaning Singapore should fall that little bit quicker.  The 12th Aviation Regiment is earmarked for deployment to Kota Bharu to operate the AF there, and provide a limited garrison.   In Borneo the 35th Bde  (Kuching)[/i] will prepare for landing at Batavia.  Two Daitai of Nells and one of Zeroes have been moved to Kuching, from here they will either commence anti-shipping strikes, or perform raids against Singapore and Palembang.  The 12th NLF (Miri)[/i] will begin preparations for an attack on the small garrison at Christmas Island.  Brunei[/i] [/i]will be occupied by the 12th Base Force and will be used for air raids against targets in Southern Borneo and the Philippines.   There is a TF en route to Tarakan transporting the Yokosuka 4th SNLF, Sasebo 8th SNLF and Kainan Guard SNLF as well as the 121st IJN BF.  The landings are supported by a cruiser force with Mogami, Mikuma, Suzuya and Kumano.[/i]  This force should easily swamp the small garrison there and provide air cover for the landings planned for Balikpapan.   The landings at Balikpapan have been assigned to the 48th Division and are planned to begin 2-3 days after the Tarakan operation.  This operation will be supported by the Aoba TF (Aoba, Kinugasa, Furutaka and Kako).[/i]    On Celebes there is a landing planned for Manado, and one at Amboina on the island of Ceram.  These landings do not have heavy support, so they will be timed to coincide with the southern Borneo landings which should tie up Allied naval operations.  There is a base force assigned to the Amboina landings which should enable flight operations from the AF in short order.   New Guinea & Solomons   At Rabaul the Kure 1st SNLF will be reinforced by the South Seas Det and the 24th NLF.  Once the base is secured the 4th Base Force will move in and start air operations against Port Moresby.  The 4th * 8th NLF units will make landings at Lae and secure a foothold on New Guinea.  As soon as transport is available the 21st Division will redeloy from China to land at Buin and begin the assault against Port Moresby. These operations will have the support of the light carrier Ryujo[/i] with the Zuiho[/i] also on her way.  The operations in this area will also be reinforced by one of the cruiser forces once the Borneo landings are concluded.  Intelligence indicates that the Australians only have 2 heavy cruisers available, the cruiser force in conjunction with the carriers should be enough to eliminate the Australian naval presence.   There will also be a landing at Buin to establish a base there.   CENTPAC   In the Central Pacific Japanese forces will drive south through the Gilberts, the ultimate goal here is to take Pago Pago and cut off the supplies to Oz from the USA.  The main problem here is the comparative lack of forces and air bases, so any operations here will have to be slower paced.         Whilst I would like to hunt down the US carriers the HR in place mean the KB must return to a major Japanese base, Truk offers the best range of options for future operations.

Believe me I am [:(] No-one ever wants to 'be' Japan though. As for securing the DEI, I don't have a specific timetable yet, the plan is to secure all of the large AFs as soon as possible to limit the Allied offensive abilities. After southern Sumatra is more-or-less secured I want to land the 16th Division in Java early in January. They will also be joined by the Southern Area division at Shanghai and the 35th Bde as well as various artillery formations and engineers.

The mighty HMS Prince of Wales, pride of the Royal Navy's Far East Fleet has been sunk by the brave airmen of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The brave ship was attempting to flee from the combat zone around Singapore with her tail between her legs like a frightened puppy.

The ship, and her escort, were all destroyed in less than an hour after our brave aircrews located and attacked the British fleet in the early afternoon of the 10th December. Surely you Commonwealth troops must now see that defeat is inevitable and you should surrender now, it is the only way to save your lives.
