Any facility or plan for hot seat play? Going through the PBEM could get tedious for an entire campaign. Tks,

As of now you have to use the PBEM structure, but I hope they add hotseat where you don't have to go back and forth loading the seperate turns.

I must be misunderstanding you here, how can you not have to load both turns?

Alot of games have a hotseat option that's seperate from PBEM where once the game loads it's divided into orders phases for each side but you don't have to save and exit out and reload the other player's order's phase.
For example you would load your save and the CSA would be active so the map wouldn't have any units on it and a dialog box would announce it's the CSA's turn. The CSA player would click the button and be allowed to do his turn. At the end of giving orders he'd hit end turn and the map would be cleared and a dialog box saying it was the USA's turn would appear. Players would swap out the hotseat, and then the USA player would give his orders. Then when he clicked end turn the turn would run. Of course the map can only display units that are visible to both sides so each player can watch.
It would be a major change to the current structure but would be nice.

Yes, but this is because the orders and actions are to be played in sequence, but this engine is a simultaneous TBS, so there are advantages (doing the turn in parallel obviously) and constraints too.

Now it's not my turn to understand. [&:] The orders would be given in two phases just like it is currently but the resolution would only be after the 2nd player clicked end turn. It would then execute all the orders entered. To me that's the same as the current system, the only difference is the orders phases are strung together without having to load seperate saves. But I fully understand that the system wasn't designed around that and it's not easy to implement. I was just explaining the thoughts behind hotseat since it was brought up. [:D]

I think the point is that the interface is cumbersome. You should be able to choose Hot Seat in the menu, pick passwords, then one guy gives orders and hits End and the other guy puts in his password and gives orders and hits End and so forth. This whole business with opening folders and moving files around - ugh. Also, for play-by-email, it should open up your email client with the file(s) already attached and the file association should be set so that when you receive it just click on it and it loads the game from that save file.

uh ok, the data stored in a player turn are not all the data, but only the ones he has the right to access... so we would need anyway to have the other player turn to load... but this could be automated at least, I agree. Don't hold your breath for the feature, but I will note it for the future.
