Im trying to find alien bases by sending out my lightning to hover over an area to look for a base....but to no avail..I havent found anything yet..what is the range of the sensors?

You find bases by successfully completing missions against the "green" circles in a country if a base exists.
Other ways may be possible but that's the only reliable way I've found.

Do others find that Patria is always composed of alien lovers?

green circles? Where are they?

The first time I encountered a green circle was when I was trying to shoot down an alien ship. Instead of catching up in time to shoot it the ship landed and created a green (landed ship) target. After defeating it with my soldiers I got the message that I had found an alien base. So far this is the only way I have found alien bases. Also be sure to capture a live commander (Green Vipon) to interrogate and this will open up Plasma tech tree. P.S. Have an interrogation room built before capturing live aliens.

Ok. Ive fought at landing sites many times but never was notified I found a base...Havent built an interrogation room but I do have alien containment room.. I was still able to research the commander. Should I keep trying to capture commanders for research?

Still learning about the game myself. However I wll say each time I research a commander some new tech tree or more information (alien origions, mothership...) is discovered. If I discover anthing new that might be of help I'll post. Good Luck...

I have also found them by sending a ship to hover over the area and it happens to be close by the alien base.
