Way points

When I am moving a force from one hex to another I seem to be having trouble with my way points. My procedure is like this first I right click on a hex and see the red dot then I use shift and right click to two more hexes between my fleet and the red dot, I get an yellow dot and then a green dot and of course the red dot is ahead in another hex. All my fleets head right for the red dot they don't go anywhere near the yellow dot or the green dot, am I doing something wrong here, is it a bug or it just doesn't work. Please help!

That got me too. I thought the red dot was the final point and then you set points in between to get there. Not so. It goes to the red dot first, then the next dot will turn red. The green dot represents your final waypoint.
