Try setting your resolution a bit higher if you can 1280 X 1024 and then seeing if you can maximize the window.
Also do you have any specialized fonts installed on your computer (like large fonts etc)? Not knowing how the game handles larger windows fonts but it might be an issue?
Frank?

How do you set the screen Resolution? I can't see the option anywhere. All I have is windowed mode! Thanks!

You cannot change resolution for the game itself. What resolution is your desktop set to?

Oh Ok, Thanks. I thought you could change res of game itsself. My desktop is 1280 x 1024 so to get full screen game I have to reset desktop res to 1024 x 768. Thanks for info.
I hope this can be patched down the line. I would like to run the game at 1280 x 1024.

Yes, you have it. I run at 1280x1024 and the game is very playable but I prefer the 1024x768 right now - 52 year old eyes [:(]. I think Frank has been working on the resolution changes. He has posted in other threads about it.

Just downloaded the game. I have a 24" monitor and run at 1920x1200 resolution. The game map measures out at about 5"x8" on the screen (which won't maximize) and there appear to no zoomable map levels- amazing for a product released in 2007. GoA is virtually unplayable in this environment. No joy here.

Be sure to grab the patch. It offers 1024X768, 1280X1024, and 1280X800 resolutions.
I'm running my desktop at 1440X900 and have no issues whatsoever using the 1280X800 resolution supplied in the patch.

Thanks, Blackhorse. Foolish me, I assumed the update would have been incorporated into the latest download.
1280x800 represents a marginal improvement only, screen real estate appears to have grown to around 12"x8": IOW, not good enough. There's a screaming need for multiple zoom levels, especially in a game with vast, strategic aspects. I doubt I'll be playing GoA much; in its current state, it feel like building a ship in a bottle....
