Game Play

Can someone with a lot of wargame experience actually jump in and have an enjoyable & interesting game experience, ** with the full Campaign Game ** as this project now exists as an unpatched release version ?

I ask because I want an enjoyable hassle free fun experience for my $$$ at the Get Go. I`ve also had less then happy experiences with recent Matrix releases.

I`m an old timer and can live with the interface .. ***if it works***

What I ** don`t want ** , I don`t want to spend hours trying to figure out how to play a complex Game because of poor to non-existing Docs...which seems to be an issue here.

I`ve had much time over the years with Frank`s ACWFSTA, in it`s various upgrades, so I know he can design & program an excellent Grand Strategy game ( hopefully he did that here at release )

If some objective person who actually has the Game and put time in would care to share his views I`d appreciate it.

Hi richard iii,

I just bought this game today and i dont really have any issues with the interface, within 10 minutes i was launching barrages and offensives all over the western front and shuffling troops around the eastern front. I am still learning the naval aspext but everything else seems straight forward to me...

Its alot simpler than acwfsta in my eyes to be honest.

Well I wouldn't say I had "alot of wargaming experience", but after reading Lavas thread tm.asp?m=1523335 I've been able to play fine AND enjoy myself.

Well...

The big hurdle appears understanding how the game sequence works. That's why I put up the tutorial. Hopefully.. that walk through will get you by if you have any questions.

The only other "toughie" is figuring out how to "buy" stuff and allocate reinforcements and such to your troops in the Strategic Phase. I think most folks can figure that part out with a little tinkering and you also have the ability to cancel anything you do as you are experimenting.

"HQ activation" for combat movement is definitely innovative (and I like it a lot), but again, a couple times messing around with it and you should be able to be launching yourself head long into battle in no time.

I know it "looks" and may sound complicated (even Matrix lists the game as high in complexity) but I think if you give it a few minutes messing around, you'll find it's not that hard.

So far, and I haven't played a whole lot yet... no game stoppers (bugs/CTDs) to report.
