Weird though it sounds, I was able to purchase a retail copy of BofA at a local GameSpot for a surprising $14.95. which brings to mind the question of whether it will actually be eligible for patches, updates, etc. given that I got it for less than 30% of the price I would have gotten from Matrix.

The only games I ever had not take patches are the digitally downloaded ones. From places like Gamersgate or Steam. You have to get patches from them only to work. When you buy in the store then patches from the Internet should work. Patches from Matrix included.

The games I have purchased (about 10) from GamersGate won't accept patches from anywhere else. They are just as picky as Steam.

I bought my copy of BoA from an Electronics Boutique store. Although it was distributed by Strategy First, I had no problems applying all the patches from AGEOD, up to 1.12a.

It's because AGEOD built BoA. That is a great company that stands behind their products. Fast and frequent patches and manual updates as well. Plus you bought it at a store. AGEOD also listens to their customers without arguing, unlike another foreign game company I know of.

The reason why GamersGate and Steam are difficult is because they monitor your installation. Steam is the most difficult of these two though. Much more so. You have to run their games through an interface. They both have strict downloaders you have to use. Direct2Drive is the same. If you ever decide to buy and download from them, make sure to read their policy for their licensing. It repulses me now but someone else may love it. It's like having your hands tied behind your back. Matrix so far in my opinion is the ONLY place worth buying a download game. I spent hundreds of dollars this year to get rid of ALL those download games and convert to store bought hard copies. [;)] Never again! [:-]

I try to get most of my games from retailers, which saves on shipping, but that limits my choices. However, in stores you can find $19.99 bargains, if you have the patience to wait years.

I have wanted to wait to buy games so I can save money. Ha ha, it don't happen here. [;)]
