Suppressing unit mergers

Is there a way to prevent units from merging together? Several times I have had an army and a couple of attached corps in the same region. These units have been built so they generate enough command points so they can all move with no delays. But then the next turn they will sometimes be combined into a single stack, which will no longer have enough command points to not have a movement penalty, which forces me to rebuild the subordinate corps. Not a major hassle, but I hate having to redivide the stack.

Select the units tab and right mouse click. A lock will appear and that means it won't merge with other units. There is also a keyboard shortcut Ctrl+L and that locks\unlocks all stacks.

Hope that helps. If not, ignore me. [;)]

I believe there is a "regroup armies" option in the opening game options menu that automatically combines all units in a region. I'm not sure what it does, but it could be the cause of your problem.

This "regroup armies" option does not cause the groups to merge. It just cleans up the map display to show only one stack of units in any region that contains at least one group.

<ctrl> <L> will toggle group locks to prevent unintentional merging of groups. When you are moving groups around and you think you will be close enough to other group(s) to possibly cause a merge that you don't want, just hit <Ctrl> <L>, until you are done with the moving, then hit <Ctrl><L> again to retoggle it back to allowing merges. You will see little "lock" icons toggle on/off on the group tabs when you do this.
