getting those much needed weapons as CSA

Hello there!
As alwaya I was playing the CSA the other day and a thought came to me as I looked at the detailed battle report (the one where you can see which brigade dropped a weapon and if it was picked up by someone and so on). As the CSA historically is constantly in need for better equipment and weapons wouldn't it be a good thing if one would be able to "scout" the ballefield after the won battle? Depending on the experience of the units one would find more stuff or less. If any weapon is found by the searching parties they should be put into a weapons pool, to be redistributed as needed, including that the old weapons are sent back to the very same weapons pool to be given out to brigades in need. I think this would better depict what did happen - of course the Union with its vast resources never was in need to do such things, but the CS definitely were. Any thoughts from you out there?

I like the way it is handled now except that brigade artillery doesn't seem accounted for. You can capture horses from Cavalry surrenders and artillery from artillery divisions/brigades but not artillery that was integral with the infantry brigades, same with gatling guns too I think. What you suggest might be too cumbersome, having to comb every hex for weapons. It might take a long time.

I think that the collection of discarded weapons was a random event. In order to collect useful weapons a unit would have to: 1) Not be engaged, 2) Not be ordered to stay in formation, 3) No longer needed on the field of battle, 4) Be in a location where weapons were dropped, 5) Need/want said weapons, and 6) Have access to ammunition for them. It is likely that early in the war the Confederates collected Union weapons so often because they were successful and so poorly and variably equiped.

I agree with Drex, it would probably take a long time to search every hex for weapons. On top of that the programming needed is probably out of reach. I do however like the idea a bit and might add a twist to what you posted. instead, why not be given an option to search for weapons on a battlefield like radiers make raids? I think you should add this to the wish list.

Thank you guys for your coments. I think I should have mentioned that I indeed meant it to be an option to search for it automatically after the battle is won, like cesteman suggested in his post the way raiders work. I do think that wouldn't be a bad feature.

yea, you don't get the add ons, there is also supply wagons and med wagons in there too, that would be a nice gift after a battle, but add ons are seen more as a skill, then as wagons or weapons, even though that is what some of them are
you also don't get to pick up slaves or drummer boys either

And just why are you trying to pick up the drummer boys?

I have always wondered why, when you capture a city, you never find loot as part of the capture. Capturing St. Louis as the CSA should give you lots of supplies since it was a major river port. Capturing Pittsburg should give you lots of iron stockpiled there.
I could see a system where it would be worth it to the CSA to attck union cities for the resources rather than just play a defensive war in Tenn. and Vir.
