I have a question (maybe noob one)

My third ame so far
1st game i played germany and lost because i didn t use naval units properly
2nd game (germany again) i reached a close 70 PP win by conquering all of Africa, Saudi and Irak, all european neutrals and some russian resources and factories (kiew, belarus)

3rd game now (germany and japan) i messed up a bit with japan (nearly no resources) but the gave the pressure on russia i needed, so russia is under german control now

i have one question here:

QUESTION: What to do against partisan activity? (i placed garrison inf equal to twice the population there, they are still active)


And another strange thing happened

I took Gibraltar late in 44 (when it was empty for some strange reason)
Spain was still frozen at that ponit, i just got to Gib via AmphAssault

At the turn of 44/45 the spanish suddenly unfroze and attacked Vichy Southern France, and aftr this the WA moved tons of troops into Spain.

Did not find anything about this being a historical move or so.

QUESTION: Why did the spanish troops suddenly unfroze and attack Axis?

Hope someone can gimme a hint.

Besides units equal to partisan numbers you must have them supplied, one supplyper region will be used per turn. Best unit for garrison duty: militias

This one baffles me, I don't recall if in WAW Countries were Pro, leaning or neutral countries towards one side as in WAW A World Divided, but if it is the case then if Spain was Pro Allied and you attacked Portugal it could have made Spain join the allies.

One more thing the WAW forum is quite inactive, better post your doubts in WAW A World Divided forum and mention you're refering to WAW.

Another point about partisan numbers. The partisan level increases each turn by the difference between the population level and your garrison if the population exceeds your garrison. For instance, if you have one militia in a country with three population points, the partisan level will increase by two points each turn. After three turns like this, it will have a value of six points. To get the partisan level back to zero, your garrison has to exceed the population in a reciprocal fashion. In other words, if you move five militia into that region (for a total of six units), you will exceed the population level by three points, which will reduce the partisan level by three, bringing it down from six to three. Leaving six units in there for a second turn would reduce the partisan level by three again, bringing it down from three to zero. Also keep in mind that not all units count towards a garrison (see manual for list).

As for Spain suddenly becoming unfrozen, that could happen in the "World at War - A World Divided" game due to random events heavily influenced by various factors, such as political leanings and attacks on specific countries (such as Gibraltar). However in the original "World at War" game, only a distinct attack would have unfrozen Spain, and the only things that come to mind is: you directly attacking Spain, you attacking a Spanish colony somewhere else, your opponent attacking Spain, or your opponent attacking a Spanish colony. The "View Nation" Tool Bar button will change the map to show flags designating the nationality of each region. You can then review the countries you have attacked to see if any of them have a Spanish flag.
