If you are behind router and using NAT you have two options:
a) your opponent have public IP: he must host the game and you just connect to him
b) you nor your opponent have public IP: use software for creating VPN in internet, for example Hamachi
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamachi
I'm using it for playing Campaign Series and it works fine and it is very easy to setup
official site for Hamachi -

Hi,
thanks for this hint Arkady ....
But i really dont install a extra soft only to forward ports in a Game in
my good configured secure LAN.
And i use VPN for real secure things over Internet ...(not for Gaming [:)] )
The best, easyst and simplest solution is TO KNOW the ports that
the Game use ...
This is not a to hard thing ... and will in no way interact with my network.
So .. i Hope for the answer ...
(any from the Dev musst know which port[ s ] used .. if this not a Top-secret thing)
Thanks,

2700 is popping into my head for some reason. In the meantime, I did find the following which might be of some help:
ORIGINAL: Fred Schwarz
I got it to work! Here's how you do it with a home LAN.
You go to your settings (in my case, advanced settings for my router) and find "DMZ." You enable DMZ and set it for the particular computer you wish to play on. Note that this fully opens that machine to the internet. You may have to reboot your router to make this setting take effect.
If you have another firewall running you need to set it to allow EF to have full access, not just outbound access (or just turn that firewall off). I run Mcafee so I set both the east front.exe and ef.exe to have full access.
From there you set up your game as the host and tell your caller your ip address (that you get from ipchicken.com or your router may tell you on its set up screen)and he enters it when prompted.
(not that you send him the ip address that your router uses, not your LAN ip address for your computer, which on most home LANs would be similar to this 192.168.1.11)
I sort of knew about DMZ because some flight sims need to have it enabled to play, but it had been awhile since I did anything with it. So last Sunday night I got confused and thought DMZ had to be disabled to allow the TCP/IP connection to work. I had it backwards.
Hope this helps others figure out how to do this with your home LAN.
Life is good again!

Hi,
thanks Jason [8D]
To clarify:
All answers was helpfull.
For an "normal" Windows user with only one or two PC the hint with the
extra prg to manage conections is a good and easy way and dont need fight
with network prefs [;)]
And the hint from Jason with the DMZ is suitable for the most user too [:D]
But i have a complex network that i dont need to corrupt with an unknow
prg .. and i have allready an Main Server running as DMZ (and its not running
Windows so i cant play on it CS )
Thanks to all posters ...only one thing is left [:D]
Use CS TCP AND UDP or only one of this protocols ?
It not hurts the running of the Game over Internet ( i forward both protocols)
but it would nice to know this "exact" [:D]
And a "hint" for this in a updated Manual (or Readme) would helpfull for other user too ..
Thanks,
