Hello Everyone,

Hey I have been gone from this forum for a long long long time. I have been playing CoD...in all of it's various iterations. But, have recently had a desire to get back to PBEM with Steel Panthers.

On one of the forums for PBEM I noticed someone mention an "Enhanced Version".

Could somebody 'splain to me what that is?

Derek, this is a fan-created mod that many (including yours truly) regard as the definitive version of the game. Many people were involved, and ample assistance was given by SPWaW designer Michael Wood. This version was built upon the last official Matrix release of the game.

The OOBs were given a thorough reworking, and many graphics and sound enhancements were also provided.

The default nation ratings were also modified for the sake of play balance. There are no "weak sisters" anymore.

This gamer (yeah, I contributed a bit to it, too) gives it his highest recommendation.

I'm a newbie, but maybe that's good for updating. You can get the mod here:

You will probably want to use modswapper. Instructions are here:

You will also want to apply the DV or DVRN patch. You can get it and instructions here:

I know this seems like a lot of work but trust me, it's worth it.

Not to worry about the amount of work involved. Ifn you wanna be competitive you gotta do the work.

It is good to be back.

I missed the long running PBEM commentaries.....[8D]

I will probably get the ENH set up at the office in the next few days. And, ....ifn there ain't too long of a learning curve....start looking for some opponents.

Welcome back ...Enhanced is simple to install using the modswap program, so dont fret none....
Everything you need to know about "Enhanced" is posted either at the SPWAW Depot or The SPWAW Enhanced forum itself, both of which Stephen provided links to.

Yesterday...Oct 4th...I posted the Full Mod with all patches already installed.

I tried all those links today and they are all expired (#4).
Apparantely "mediafile" doesnt store the mod files anymore.
The other two links for 'modswapper and installing instructions are also invalid.

Bummer.

I am having no success in finding the enhanced mod or instructions or mod swapper anywhere else.
I can find mostly forums on these items doing a google search.

Would someone please be kind enough too assist.

Jeez louise -- there is no sane reason why the Enhanced Mod shouldn't be hosted on the Matrix site. It's the closest thing to an official update we will ever get, so why not?
