For the most part, the AI is very good. However, I keep running into suicidal groups strategically and tactically. I'll be stationed somewhere with 60,000 + troups (CSA or USA) and get attacked by 15,000 or less, sometimes 6,000. Then, when I go to tactical, they attack head on. I dig in and inevitably they come on still. I eventually win by wearing down the opponent by capturing his army piecemeal. If the AI were to retreat against these odds on the tactical field, gameplay would be better. I don't like to win by fighting these types of fights. I have gone back to instant battles to avoid this, but find myself going for the piecemeal battle when down. 2 to 1 odds are fine, but 6 or 7 to one....not even Bobby Lee or Stonewall could pull that off.

uh I think you posted this is in the wrong area. Should be in the general area in case your wondering who no one has replied to your post. I can only comment on instant combat and it does have it's disadvantages. You need 3-1 odd when attacking and then it's not 100% you'll win because the computer takes care of everything for you. If you really want to win a battle you have to go into detailed combat.
