Cautious AI?

I just fininshed the first turn of the 1914 scenario as the TE. Total losses were 393,000 for the CP and 90,000 for the TE. The AI launched no ground attacks in the West.
Any ideas why it would be so cautious?

I would advise playing a few more turns, at least into 1915, to see how the AI plays out...

If i recall correctly from previous statements from Frank the AI has been designed to choose from 3 different strategies at start of the game i.e. in the mobilization phase.
1) France first
2) Russia first
3) Hitting minors
So if war is been declared on Belgium focus is on gobbling up minors usually in conjunction with a France first.
If you are hit hard at the French border it's obviously a France first.
If some attacks are being made like in your game but without sufficient drive it's a Russia first.
Although a little bit cumbersome to get a game with focus on a certain strategy it's possible which adds to playability though it would have been nice, if it was selectable at setup.

The funny thing is NO attacks were made by the CP. No war on Belguim either.

Interesting. When I played the TE the AI declared war on Belgium so I shifted some corps to the north. Then a funny thing happened and it didn't attack through Belgium but straight through France.

The AI did launch a few attacks against the Russians with Austrian troops. So far I'm just shelling the Germans on the French border and passing the time away. I finished the second turn and losses are 621K for CP and 252K for TE. I think all my French Corps will be at full strength again!

I launched my fifth game I was confident I would wipe the map with the ia... my Devided strategy was a bust... I got my head handed to me immedeieately by the ia.. and on the EASY level..
WHAT? This is Great!!!! I just counted dgames and the rare jewels are those you must struggle to beast the ia.. BRAVO, so you may have a passive ia.. my ia has been inititally too, but this last time the darn ia infultrated my staff.. and I changed my strategy so it would not recall it all![:-]

This "cautious" AI has appeared now and then. I'm guessing its the "Falkenhayn" personality sometimes deciding to fight a defensive war right from the start. However, I didn't want to look at AI stuff in this patch, just looking at game system stuff. I will however look at this "decision" of the AI's next week and see what I can do.

It finally came to life but to late I fear.

I've seen something like this a couple of times, with nothing in 1914 and then an offensive in Galicia in 1915. I thought maybe it was something like a "Russia first" stance mismatched with a "France first" mobilization.

I've been playing alot of CEAW lately (which is a fabulous game) but I pretty much own that AI right now. I recently took a break with a game of GOA to test out the new patch and promptly took an absolute beating which makes me 0-5 against the AI.
Admittedly some of it is me being too lazy right now to sit down and figure out my every action with precision but no matter, the AI in this game is superb.
