Should I buy This Game

I haven't accessed this forum in quite a while.
I am seriously considering buying Maximum Football.
I am primarily interested in autosimming an entire season and then advancing to the next season.
Input from the members will play a major role in my decision.
Thanks for your input.

Perhaps I should say, "of course," and I would recommend purchasing this game, but I am unsure why you would want to purchase Maximum-Football and not play any games live. The meat of this game is playing the game in the 3D environment.
If you are going to purchase the game to sim CFL leagues, I can understand that, as there are not sim alternatives out there, but with 11 man, I'd really consider what else Maximum Football offers compared to the alternative games and make an informed choice.
Football Mogul and Front Office Football are stats based games that have a front end for simming games. That is really what they are designed to do, and that's really all they do. It may be a good idea to take a look at all three and decide which one or two you may want from there. All three games are all from small publishers and are worthy of a look.
I can say that Maximum Football can sim games and can do live games as well. That is something that the other choices cannot do, and I believe you may find that playing the games in a live 3D environment, with a single team or as the game of the week, really enhances the realism and excitement of a season. Maximum Football can also use alternative rulesets and league types, and that adds a lot to custom league play.
In the future, Maximum Football will likely integrate its sim game with the main game engine for Maximum Football 3, and that will be nice. Support is needed now to make sure the game gets there, so I would have to say that making the purchase at this time would be a good thing, and I believe you will like the game, but I won't tell you that Maximum Football is the only sim game choice available.

Hi Flynn,
I recently bought this game and while there are some flaws in the system, I find them to be really quite minor. I love this game, and given that it addresses some rather niche markets (CFL rules among others, customizable graphics, and limited career modes), it will not be to everyone's tastes. It is not Madden, it's not glitzy, but it is a solid game, and quite fun to play. I just simmed my first complete season (a 21 team CFL), and it was really enjoyable. At $40 US (Download version) it is competitively priced, but given the amount of work that David Winter put into this since he announced it back in 2001, he may have undervalued his work IMO. If anything in this game interests you, I strongly recommend that you purchase this game.

The next version will be out shortly and I think from what we have seen in beta testing that it is much improved over the previous release, with many enhancments and additions.

Thanks for helping curb my enthusiasm for 1.5, and testing my patience[:'(]

There are many single player leagues being run, but not many people post them.
I would like to see more multiplayer leagues posted here.
My league has always played games with on field graphics, and that won't change with Maximum-Football.

What if I'm only interested in NCAA rules & real teams playing only coach mode? I don't care about graphics, I want realistic gameplay and stats. Can there be recruiting?

There isnt necessarily a recruiting mode in the game. Regardless of what type of league you want to run, stocking the league is done thru a standard type of draft. Players are available, teams draft in a specific order. Or you can just let the game generate players and load up the teams. You can adjust this yearly.
MaxFB has no license, so you get fictional players. You could create as many college teams of real players as you want, but you have to do it manually. That could take a while.
As for rules, I think it is possible to have rules similar to the NCAA.
I am not a huge college fan, so im not familiar with the specifics, but you should be able to come really close.
As for realistic gameplay and stats...thats a matter of opinion. You can play Max 2 ways.....on the field or let it sim a game.
If the game is played out on the field, whether its CPU v CPU, you calling plays, or arcade style....you will definately see a good representation of football. As for the sim engine, I think its fairly basic. It will sim a game fairly quickly, and give you a boxscore. How much more is involved only David could say.
I heartily recommend the game to any sports fan, especially a football fan. For someone who wants a NFL or NCAA specific game, with all the features that go with those leagues, im not sure. If you just wanted to boot up and play then you should just stick with Madden or NCAA.
MaxFB is like a Football Construction Set, or Football game in Sandbox mode. I luv it, some may not. But if you like to tinker its unmatched.

Coaching mode with 3D game play is great, and the quick sim games with MF2 will have very realistic stats. Most of the division IA team uniforms have been created and can be found at FBmax. Below is a screen shot from a Texas vs Texas Tech game.
