Please can we get naval endurance changed?

I'm sorry, but this is pushing GoA over the fun-border into the realm of Tedious Pointless Make Work.

At least, let transport & amphib fleets stay out at the cost of eating up naval points. As the Entente, having to micromanage this stuff is like doing income tax returns, and adds nothing at all to the game except one more chance to screw things up through forgetfulness or miscounting.

And really, the same for other fleets, even if it does reduce options for doing stuff in the sub war.

so what you are saying is that transport units never need maintenances? could you please tell me how they do that? if I could sell this technology to big companies I could make big bucks! $$$$$$$$$$$

No, just abstract maintenance away by making you spend points to keep them at sea. If you don't have any points, they return.

But isn't that what endurance is suppossed to simulate? The fact that vessels need to coal and repairs on a dry dock once in a while.

Sure, but for me it's a level of detail at odds with the scale and nature of the game.

I mean, we don't have to coordinate train schedules (thank god), we just have some abstract startegic movement points to play with.

Actually we do need to check train schedules.....in hte form of limited abounts of strategic movement.

And so it is with ships and limited endurance.

Granted but i will give Szilard that handling transports is a bit too complicated:

So different missions types gives different endurance. Fine.

So endurance falls with one each impulse meaning you have to seriously plan your summer turns. Fine.

So transports gets an "return" order when they reach 0 in endurance preventing their further use that turn. Fine.

But i think its over the top that transports with 1 in endurance both will go down to 0 at the end of the same strategy phase with their effects immediately implemented that same strategy phase as well as having "return" order the next strategy phase i.e. you waste two full turns (very bad for British shipping)

Similarly if transports doesn't have sufficient endurance to last the full next game turn immediately upon ending of the strategy phase they will get a "return" order preventing them from use.
(problem with amphibious order)

Both is a bit too much i think [&:]

That doesn't make any sense, does it? Why would summer be harder on ships? Maybe just a glitch?

Yeah but we don't need to build trains, maintain track, work out movement orders ... We just have some points.

I guess the reasoning is summer being campaign time therefore adding more wear on hardware ?

Yes, I agree here.  The expenditure of naval points will represent the transports coming back to port, refitting and going back out again thus eliminating the need to do it manually.

I really wish there were "holding boxes" in the sea zones for the different missions so that you could look at the map and see your ships at sea.

holding boxes would be a great idea.....although only for your own ships I think....enemy shipping should remain a bit mysterious :)

Yes of course!  What's funny is that you can see the top ship in an enemy stack as it is now.

Seeing your ships at sea at a glance would really help out.  Also the ability to click and drag them back to port.

You can see the enemy ships in the naval phase (well if they participate in any engagements) and that is before you can give orders to your troops, so you already know who's where. You don't know it right away when you give your orders, but that's the fog of war.

Just want to note that the number of impulses in a turn has no effect on naval operations.  Naval units get the same number of moves per turn regardless of season.
