Tigers Nerfed? Or Hills a big factor?

Hi All,
Played a West Front small sized scenario with Tigers and Panthers which were up against mostly Shermans with some FireFlys and the odd M10. Most of my Tiger and Panther shots resulted in no damage or even any result apart from the odd retreat. On the reverse of the coin, nearly all allied shots took out my Panthers and Tigers. In short my force got decimated and did very little damage in return.

One thing I did notice is that the majority of my engagements were up a slope. Now I'm guessing either these tank models aren't well represented in the game or attacking to a higher elevation carries severe penalties. Anyone else see this?

One thing I just learned from rereading manual is that combat seems to be done on an odds basis. So for example 3 vs 1 is much better then a wonderful 25 vs say 11. So sherman up close vs panthers aren't all so different on the odds table.
Fight shermans at long range also!

There is also a 10% bonus for shooting down a slope.

Played this Achaan scenario again and completley obliterated the enemy as the Germans. The key was to take up a defensive perimeter around the nearest objectives and setup interlocking fields of fire from village and town hexes. The US came in overwelming numbers but we cut them down. At turn 10 of 12 I then started my counter attack. The US side was so depleted that they couldn't stop me taking all objectives. In the end I got a decisive visctory and it turned out that I didn't need to take the additional objectives thanks to the heavy casualties that I had inflicted.

I guess the key is to stay in cover and just because you are a tiger or panther it doesn't make you bullet proof! :) Next game will be the same scenario, but me playing as the US.

I do love when a plan goes just the way you envision it.  Terrain advantage can be the deciding factor.
