using this game engine for more..

Hi, i have realized that this game engine could very well work for simulating the Uboat-war aswell, probably brilliantly. There are lots of uboat simulators games, but none whatsoever on the tactic/stratecig level.
How fun wouldnt it be to be Doenitz sending your uboat waffe counting the tonnage, or try to outsmart the axis by sending convoys to fill the supply demands, keep track of your aces commanders, putting together hunter-killer groups protecting convoys etc..
just trying to seed a new game idea here, perhaps someone grabs the idea and see a profit in this.
ps: impatiently waiting for Eagle Day BtR, when will this hellish wait be over?

Anyways. back to SH3 GWX in the mean time. Cheers big Ears!

Didn't need no explosives, neither. He just headbutted the ship out of the water.

As I mentioned in another thread, this might address (yet another) diversion of Bomber Command effrt.
Just to take an example lets take No. 149 (East India) Squadron (only because the book fell open at this page). This unit was one of only two to serve in BC for the entire war and racked up the fifth highest number of bombing raids in Bomber Command (567) and the most mine laying raids (160) which is a significant proportion of the total.
However, this may have been because the unit was equipped with Short Stirlings for a significant period (none were flown with Wellingtons or Lancasters). This being said, it still indicates that a significant number of mine laying sorties were being flown by Bomber Command and any inclusion of this aspect into the game would be welcome.

Well
the bomb load would be easy, the trouble is, how to make it count or mean something with in the game
now, down the road, if we are able to add some shipping, then it will be a worthwhile load and target
(205 group did a lot of minelaying also, up into Swift's Area)
(also, a lot of the mine laying missions were seen as a decoy, to the main effort, and once it was decided that the Stirlings couldn't handle the deeper raids, they were seen as being still useful to the main effect by mineing)
its a good idea and been talked about in the past and currently, but is on the hope to do list

minelaying along the Danube was one of the biggest successes of the 205th group - did more damage to the industrial output of Germany than the whole 8th AF in any given month in 1944 !!!

Would it be possible to create a new target type (if there are any 'slots' available) and make it produce something necessary for industry (transport perhaps)? Minelaying would then have an affect similar to bombing railyards, particularly on the river networks as Swift suggests....
Just a thought.

More PORTS on the Danube to be bombed would do the trick for me.

You've have to promise to move Hornchurch out of western London and back to it's original location first....

Hurr hurr... Well, you could always try locating it in the BoB position, which is more accurate than the BtR position which seems closer to Heston in reality.

Ahhh, my bad, I think of Horny as a BoB airfield, not a BTR one
I got 3 guys who were suppost to be getting me corrected placements for the English fields in BTR
(most of the English fields are way out of place)
we were able to get the VIIIs fields reset
(that was a pretty good piece of work, made a field be the center piece, and then worked out the distance and loc of each field, based on where it was at, compared to the center field)
soooooo
work out some target ports and I will move Horny more to the East
hey, I kind of like this job

Please don't think
Horny....

Ignoring ports like Bratislava which you've already got, the places mentioned in the Official RAF history and also on the wikipedia page for the Danude for reference are:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danube
Gyor (Hungary)
Esztergom (Hungary)
Belgrade (Serbia)
Svishtov (Bulgaria)
Giurgiu (Romania)

ahhhh
Based on where Gravesend is at, I got Horny closer to where I think it should go as I see it from BoB
hassle is most of the other "London" bases are way off also (Northholt, looks to be in the wrong group area even)
Horny moved
Gyor in
Esztergom in
Belgrade was in
Svishtov in
Giurgiu in (help out the Oil in the area
any idea on better names for them other then adding Werft to them ??
(question should the port be Belgrade or Belgrad (or did somebody spell it wrong)))
(by the looks of it, shouldn't Sofia have a port ?)

Speaking of using this engine for other campaigns, someone must have brought up somewhere, sometime the air campaign against Japan - though I've never heard of it.
Only other candidates I can think of would be Korean War? - possibilites for some odd aircraft match ups - and Vietnam - and I can really see that as a hot seller [;)]
