Inchon Again issues

Howdie...

Unfortunately a lot of what I'm about to mumble about is pulled from memory, as I exited the game and went to work. Saved game still has some issues, but others (incoming messages in particular) are gone so it's pointless to try to get some screen caps of it. Anywho...

v3.8.0.0

Main issue is loadouts, in particular on the Harriers (a couple of the copters also have the same issue, but only like one or two of them seem borked). Initially the Harriers are all listed as having various loadouts preset. This is fine (except none are AAW). Immediately issues arise when trying to change some loadouts. Many harriers can't be altered. The Ready list only allows for "Minimal", all others loadout types show (0) available. This occurs when both trying to alter loadouts for the task force, or by selectively working with a particular ship (as there are 3 CVH's in this scenerio).

So I get inbound boogies, I select a few cluster bomb loaded Harriers, as they have 2 sidewinders each. Upon launch the aircraft have a load out of "Minimal". So I go out and shoot down the enemy with my cannons. Also I start altering loadouts on as many planes as I can (some DO allow changing, but not all). However, thus far every plane launched launches as "Minimal".

I tried making ferry missions from one ship to another, apparently nothing ever launched (destination was a CVH, so that shouldn't have stopped the ferry mission of Harriers) -- I was thinking perhaps one ship was corrupted (and still believe so, read on...).
I selected the taskforce and just launched a few Harriers at a time, then landing them. This seemed to allow me to then loadout the aircraft (however, appears they all still take off as "Minimal" -- although many are still not "READY".
As well I tried to ferry CH46s to the Essex, didn't work either -- nothing ever took off (selected helos weren't already stationed on the Essex).

Only an hour or so into the scenerio (mostly at 1:1 time) I saw 4 messages about some Harriers that were ready on the Essex. I tried to do a launch from the task force. No Harriers listed as "READY". I selected the Essex, hit F6 (ready/launch) and the Essex lists NO Harriers (20 CH46s and one Sea King). So apparently I've lost 4 Harriers to some corruption or something. I also (apparently) cannot force Harriers to land on the Essex, seems I have to just have them land on the task force and let the AI figure out where they go.

Perhaps I should have mentioned that I'm (re)new to Harpoon3 (former major Harpoon-HarpoonII addict). Perhaps I've missed something key to readying/launching my aircraft.

Anywho I'll keep plugging along, although I think my chances of landing at Inchon are fairly limited giving I have to attack everything with just the Harrier's cannons.

I've restarted the scenerio 3 times and the issue persists. Very well could be I've missed something and that I am the cause of the issue -- but what I've missed I certainly have no clue about.

Thanks,
Bos

Assuming this is to the original database I'd recommend trying out one of those that is morte up to date. there are now plenty of 3.8 compliant databases. Try Harpoon HQ or ANW DB as options. I'm not aware of any others that are compliant at present.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've done both -- swapped to a different Database and turned off aircraft logic. I've yet to test the changes, but will after I wake up (bed is calling my name).

Scenerio was "Inchon Again". Managed to finish the scenerio, and once I was half way up the coast the aircraft seemed to be more responsive to my loadout requests -- although not completely.

Holy smoke, and here I was thinking this was only me with this problem. I've been reading different forums now for the last 3 days trying to see if anyone else had this problem before I posted.

I too thank you for the help.

The AV-8B Harrier IIs in the Inchon Again scenario, can't load up due to an issue with changed loadouts in the ODB.

As Dale has mentioned, there was an ODB update undertaken earlier in the year and as a result we are seeing some issues arising now. The "default" loadout for the Harriers on the Essex consists of the following:

Loaded in scenario with loadout, UG-C #06 (BL.755), when viewed using "F6" when Essex is selected.
2 x AIM9L
1 x AN/ALQ-164 DECM Pod
12 x BL.755 Cluster Bomb

This loadout is no longer available for the Harrier II, as it is really a UK Harrier weapons fit. the BL.755 CBU is a UK designed and fielded weapons system.

Dale has correctly updated the loadouts for the Harrier II in the ODB and the corresponding loadout that should be set as the "default" would be the following:

UG-C #33 (Mk20 Rockeye CBUs).
2 x AIM-9M Sidewinder
10 x Mk20 Rockeye II Cluster Bomb

Unfortunately the "Edit Aircraft" window will show the loadout that was assigned to the aircraft when the scenario was originally designed. Even after a full scenario rebuild the UG-C #06 (BL.755) loadout will be listed as carried by the Harrier. The lack of availability of the loadout will only become apparent when you launch your planes and the "Unit Report" window shows them now loaded as "minimal".

What really needs to happen is for each of the ODB scenarios to be checked to ensure aircraft are correctly loaded when the scenario is saved for use. The same will apply to scenarios constructed with other databases where the DB has had any of its loadouts changed or their index numbers have been reassigned to a new or different loadout that, no longer corresponds with the aircraft in the scenario you are playing.

Cheers
