fog of war

quick questions about FOW mechanics:

1. At the first impulse of a new turn and land combat has happened in a hex, shouldn't some enemy counter info be made available for the remainder of the turn and impulses? I would think just by the forces making contact gives recon, especially if their at/near equal strenght.

2. would it be possible to show which enemy units (counters) participated in a attack before or after each battle summary?

3. maybe I'm thinking to much in the Civil war era, but shouldn't cavalry provide some limited recon of the enemy too? They seem pretty weak to use.

maybe someone could address anything similar to the navy side of things.

thanks, and enjoying the game.

One should remember that a hex is huge in size, which might negate your comments about the cavalry. Or it might not.

You can attack with cavalry to see what's in a hex if the hex is open terrain - for any combat you get a report of how many strength points are there, and their quality and readiness.
