Cease fire possible?

I'm just thinking out loud now.... what would it take to make some kind of cease fire in the H3 community and is it even possible?

If somebody have done something to someone, what should somebody say or do to someone to make it up?

Could the community even live without this "war" since it has been this way for years or has it become "war" for the sake of the "war"?

Don't even try to post names or point fingers in this thread, since we know what happens then [:-]
Instead try to be constructive and not destructive....

It is not possible to reconcile the parties involved.  Apology has been tried without success over the years, in the end it always comes back to pulling more users into one camp or another via deception or any other means available.

The only thing I see that stands any chance at all is one particular group leaving the game for another, which it sounds may be in the works.

Do wot John? [X(]

Straight up chaps, vigorous, witty, superiority based debate makes for damn good reading, full of giggly goodness. Of course it should be kept within thread and not allowed to escape.

I guess that is the problem, it does escape. I have spotted the odd glimpse of this 'extra verbose database' whilst trawling the threads but havent quite worked out who the axis of evil is , or indeed, who the upholders of freedom and righteousness are , but I know your out there you naughty lil pixies! [;)] It is a pity we cant let them get on with it in their own lil thread, they obviously havent been allowed to bash each other to a standstill yet and 'the users' should shun 'camp' based comment and cheer/jeer from a neutral viewpoint. Can the protagonists be trusted to stay vigorous, witty and superior of attitude? Can 'the users' behave and not become camp followers? Course not this is Harpoon!

Aww look a group hug emoty wotzit, hint hint [:D]

Ok thanx Tony, glad somebody DID try it, even though its a little sad. Just think what all these guys could make if they worked together...

Looking forward to hear more about the rumors...

To shed the appropriate light on this statement, Tony here is the patron of the other group.

I'm sure it would be mighty convenient for certain people if the pioneers who contributed to making H3 possible during the lean years (as opposed to born-again Johnny-come-lates like Tony or CV32, for instance) just packed up and left the scene. All for "the good of the community" of course.

Sorry, couldn't let that go uncommented. Feel free to dogpile me again.

Don't let anyone fool you, I'm patron to more individuals than make up the other group, just so we're clear. I do my duty for H3, beta tested early PC versions (and most since, even if my name didn't make it into the credits as promised). Not to mention running two 24/7 ANW servers, probably 3 by year end. Anyway, I was just giving my opinion on the one thing that struck me as possible to ending the main feuds. I didn't say it would be a welcome thing, or a bad thing, just that it is the only thing I see as a possibility to bring things back to a state approaching an even keel.

Various compromise solutions have been suggested by those of us on HHQ, but are invariably ignored. I even recall Tony stating that if the PDB ever turned out to be a copy of others work, he'd withdraw it from his server. Odd that this never happened.

That statement of mine stands (which you've kindly mis-stated). I've seen no proof that PDB copied DB2k. It is based off of H3DB which was based off of HUDII and I sat in the front row of vigorous attempts to contact Darren when he was away from the game in order to have his approval so I have no doubts about the permission on that front. My statement stands...

Love is the only solution people, yes you read correctly, love!

We have to learn to love our enemies database, embrace it and build upon it with love!

All this bickering about oo' killed oo' will only lead to an inevitable shortage of socks, a situation Im sure you will agree, no harpooner wants to find themselves in

So embrace love, for you will find that data based love is the deepest love of all......

Well, apart from the mountains of evidence presented by HHQ members and the fact that the act was verified by a separate AGSI investigation and even publicly confirmed by Don G.....apart from all that yeah, no proof.

You see Tony, there's a big part of the problem right there.... as Herman's patron, you have in your hands the power to help end this thing even by tomorrow, simply by denying shelter & support to the person that has been proven to be the culprit of the singular act that has generated this controversy. And you won't do it no matter what, because maintaining this atmosphere suits your agenda just fine. (Making the H3 community look bad and thus making HC look good in comparison, plus sticking it to the HHQ because you lost the H3-or-HC argument back in 2002).

Then you come into threads like this and shed crocodile tears over a situation that you have directly helped create and maintain.

As so often happens, it's the self-proclaimed peacemakers that you really have to watch out for.

Anyone who's been in this community before 2004 remembers how different things were before the appearance of Herman on the scene and his embrace by certain individuals who now wonder publicly aloud about the situation. This memory alone is sufficient to smother the "They've been at it for ever!" argument.

Cut out the cancer that infected the community and then we can earnestly talk about moving forward. Which we all want to do.

Oooow ooow, me me, let me be next!

You gotta watch it Taitenneck one of the best shows on the telly. No, deadly serious, it is a scream...... Nice one CV32

Ahhhhh a bit of the ol' Cervates Saavedra, nice pic do it yourself, love the referencing?

Does have a touch of the "poor bugger me's" to it though, still the ol Don was a bit that way inclined, if it wasnt for the donkey I would have turned the TV of well before the end [;)]. Personally I would have gone with a Goya myself much bleaker, gothic overtones and all.........[X(]

I was going to post in this thread... Having read it, I think I'll steer clear on an ancient cess pool.

Just to note; a lot of these posts contain no facts, just throwing crap around.
