_________PLAYER NOTES:**

This is an unusual scenario. For the most part, the units are single men. Each unit represents either one soldier or in some cases a machine gun or mortar team.**

The names of the Rangers are from the movie. Other US Army units of A Company, 116th Regiment are from my own MC-SE team for a moment in history. It may be brief.**

The scenario should be played with C&C and fast artillery turned off. The effect is much greater if the artillery is allowed to fall at the normal speed. It will not be an excessive delay.**

The landings of C Company, 2nd Ranger Battalion beside A Company, 116th Infantry Regiment is portrayed as much as possible depicting the movie landing.**

The scenario should be played from the US side only.**

____HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:**

At the left extreme of Omaha Beach, landing craft roared toward Dog Green Sector. The first attack wave of tanks from Company B, 743rd Tank Battalion had been a failure. Many of the duplex drive had sunk in the heavy waves. Others had detonated lethal mines. What few made it ashore were easy prey to antitank weapons on the slopes.**

Now it would be A Company, 116th Infantry Regiment and C Company, 2nd Raider Battalion, along with some engineer units, to get on shore and prepare the way for the following troops. It was another disaster. The Germans were ready for them. As ramps on the LCVPs dropped, the men within also dropped, shattered with the deadly machine gun fire that had zeroed in on them.**

The movie commander, Captain John Miller (the name of the real C Company commander was Captain Ralph Goranson), had a history that began in Arzew, North Africa. Few of his original outfit remained.**

Now he was going to lose even more of them.**

Tumbling out of the landing craft, the race to take the draw and open the beach began. It was pure hell on Omaha Beach.**

Stunned by a nearby German shellburst, Miller looked up from behind the German barricades and heard a frightened young private McConnell shouting, "Sir, what is the rallying point?"**

"Anywhere but here!" replied Miller as he lifted himself to make a run for the seawall.**

Goblins do not 'bravely rush machineguns'. Goblins may accidently drown hiding in the surf, or stumble upon a mine whilst digging their way to safety, but we do not 'bravely rush machineguns'. Its in the Goblin manual.
