Interesting, thanks!

Personally I played and modded Hearts of Iron quite a lot. I played Strategic Command 1 but somehow lost interest after the first successful match as the Axis (is SC2 much different/better?). I tried the demo of Making History but didn't really like it - it simply felt "a bit weird", for lack of better words.

I heard about Europe at War but it looks a lot like Strategic Command. Can anyone comment on it?

Here are some threads that deal with your question about SC2 and CEaW (personally AWD beats them both) also some HOI DD is compared:

tm.asp?m=1537395
tm.asp?m=1503444
tm.asp?m=1534742
tm.asp?m=1524003

About CEaW my point of view is that it was released without all the the potential features it could have enclosed, it really could be a good game if improved by patching properly, though it wouldn't surprise me if they'd release a second part with all the feedback they've got from the forums.
It's really a good game if you want to start playing right away, but it lacks the thinking AWD needs to be succesful.
Anyway Gkar read in CEaW forum and you will learn more about it, imo SC2 is a better game but slower (specially in moded scenarios where the AI takes forever to complete a turn). CEaW can get you hooked, hell as any of this WW2 strategy games.
As for HOI I had the first one and it drove mad too many windows popping up at the same time and too many things to be taken care off, I just couldn't stand it besides it got big bugs until v1.05, iirc, it would have been great if it had been an igoyougo game instead of a rts.

I hear u Rafael, I had to set the game speed to Very slow in order to analyse all those pop-ups. The only problem with this solution is of course, a game that takes months to complete.
