Adjustments mid-game?

Hi, was wondering whether it was possible to make adjustments to the game mechanics in the middle of a game.
I'm one year into the grand campaign and find the A2A combat is too bloody and would like to adjust things a bit (by increasing aircraft durability).
I would hate to have to start all over again as I've got a good game going, so is there a way to edit the aircraft durability without having to start a new campaign?
The fact that you can change difficulty settings mid-game made me somewhat optimistic regarding other changes...

IN practical terms, the answer is no. Most of us restart when we tire of a situation that is no longer tolerable.
In theoretical terms, of course you can. But you need to know where the value you wish to change is stored, what to change that value to, and how to go there and change it. For most people, that is a daunting list of ifs. In ancient history (of computers) - back when it was actually unethical to have any program that was not listed - one could look up such information. In the present age - even if a listing existed (it does not) - it would take the rest of your life to figure out how to read it with understanding. So it means you need to know someone who knows what you want to know - and they have to be willing to do it for you - because probably they are not permitted (ethically or legally) to reveal the details of propriatary code - and also because probably some tool or other is required to do it which you don't have. The more you want to change, the less practical it is to change it: there are tens of thousands of fields that might be involved - so changing one value is quite different than changing many values.
This is real life: it all depends on how badly you want to do something, how much help you can get, and how expensive it is (at least in terms of time and effort).

Short answer....no. Scenarios which the editor accesses are only tapped at scenario start. After that the data is accessed from the save game file so even if you alter the same scenario file from which you started a prior game, it won't be accessed until you begin a new game using that altered scenario. Be aware too that the standard editor doesn't allow you to make changes and save them to the lower 25ish slots for security purposes. (those slots are reserved for "official" Matrix sanctioned scenarios.

Ah, so it's a dead end.
I suppose all this is to keep people from editing their PBEM savegames or something, but I don't play PBEM so for me it just sucks.
With a game of this scope and playing time (I suppose it could take a year or something to finish the grand campaign) it really would have been nice to be able to adjust a few things mid-game.
Still a great a game, though - a truly majestic effort. Hope they make Europe some time down the line (with an option to choose between editable and non-editable when you save a game...!).
Thanks for the answers!
