Enabling Events and Victory levels

Thanks guys. I've got the Antwerp supply turning on using EEVs, now I have just a couple more things and I think (or at least hope) that it's ready.

1) If I have an event that says Germans retake Antwerp and that triggers another event that reduces Allied supply by 10, how do I ensure this only happens after Antwerp has opened? Can I just say that the port being opened enables the event the event that lowers supply if Antwerp is recaptured or do I have to cancel it at the start then enable it after the port opens. Basically, I don't want Allied supply to be reduced by the Germans recapturing Antwerp before the Allies even get any supply boost from Antwerp. I'm not inclined to worry about Antwerp going back and forth since I think that if the Germans ever recaptured Antwerp it would then have been closed for the duration.

2) I want to penalize the Allies for taking too long to win the war (the bring the boys home by Christmas meme). Basically, I want the game to end immediately when the Allies reach a decisive victory and the Germans will get VPs for every month in '45 that it takes the Allies to reach that level. This will give the Germans an incentive to hang on when things start to fall apart near the end. Should lead to some real nail biters going down to the wire.[:)]

I know the way to trigger the automatic victory is to use the Player 1 or 2 winning (victory differential), but I can't find in the manual what the criteria (victory differential) is for a decisive victory.

What is the criteria for the different levels of victory?

Thanks,
Jay

Well...If Antwerp has never entered Allied control, the Germans can't trip a 'German occupies' event. They can only do this if it has first been converted to Allied control. So if I understand you correctly, there's nothing to worry about.

Dunno that one. Seems to be a ratio of VP's, though. You could always set up a test scenario and work it out...or wait'll someone posts. Speaking for myself, though, I've never cared much whether I win by a field goal or by thirty points. So who cares what level the Allied victory is? Briefing's the same.

I figured that but the problem is the time between the Allies capturing Antwerp and the port opening (4 turns). I've set the Allied base supply level pretty low at 15, and then they get 10 for opening Antwerp (plus 6 more for the channel ports). But I want to make sure they don't drop 10 from losing Antwerp (dropping their base value to 5!) before they get the 10 point increase in the first place. It's kind of tricky...

Mmm. Well, delay the availability of the recapture effect. I'd structure it something like this.

event a, turn 1. Cancel event b

event b, turn 99. Allied Supply -10.

Event c: Allies occupy Antwerp. Delay 5. Enable event b.

Event c: Germans occupy Antwerp. Activate event b.

N.B. You are strongly advised to test this.

Thanks Colin. That's what I thought you needed to do. I'm testing it now with Elmer playing the Allies but he's having trouble taking Antwerp, let alone worrying about losing it. Elmer is viscous when he pursues a broken force but he struggles when dealing with strongholds in his rear and bypassed forces. But then again, so did the Allies in '44! [;)] I am glad that lowering the basic Allied supply, extending their supply radius and giving them only one supply unit for 21st AG early on seems to be working well and is giving a much more realistic feel to the scenario. Thanks for all the good work on improving the supply rules Ralph! Now if we could just get a more flexible event structure, say events excluding and masking other events in a more straight forward manner, would be great!

I'll have to test the retaking of Antwerp events in hotseat mode once I finish the current test game.
