Looking for Japanese replacement player (CHS) - CLOSED
Posted: Fri Sep 28, 2007 7:24 pm
Tired of doing the Jap. first turn over and over again? Annoyed by all those industry changes you have to do during the first days? Bored by assembling all those Japanese invasion convoys in January 1941? Then this PBEM is for YOU! Set up by an expert Japanese player (ctangus) and masterfully played unit Jan. 1st 1942, all you have to do is to jump in and grab the steering wheel! CALL 1-900-WitP-PBEM NOW, and you can be part of this amazing PBEM - for just 9,99...
Oops, sorry, got a little carried away here... [;)] Anyway, I'd like to continue a CHS PBEM that ended several months ago because of real life issues on my side.
Settings:
What happened so far (Jan. 1st, 1942)? I guess Chuck's AAR covers most of the action: tm.asp?m=1352120
In short, the Pearl Harbor strike sunk 4 US BBs, and the Japanese are firmly established in Malaya and the Philippines. In the DEI Kuching has fallen, but during a surface combat battle here the IJN lost 3 battleships against PoW. Elsewhere Chuck advanced slowly but carefully, reducing his losses to a minimum. I can provide all save games and combat reports if more info is needed.
I had written an AAR about this game myself, but I don't mind playing against someone who has read my AAR (and still remembers [;)]).
House Rules:
Here are the rules on which Chuck and I had agreed - of course this is negotiable, but I would prefer an opponent who has a similar approach to WitP:
Reply here or PM me if you are interested.
PS: I'm able to play about 1 turn per day (on weekends maybe more), with occasional breaks for vacation, overtime, etc...

Settings:
- CHS 2.06, Scen 158 (extended map, NikMod, Soviet fleet available)

- Turn cycle = 1 day
- Allied sub doctrine = off
- Japanese sub doctrine = off
- advanced weather = on
- Allied damage control = on
- historical 1st turn = off
- player defined upgrades = on
- vary setup = off
- December 7 surprise = on
- reinforcements = fixed

There are none. However this does not mean that this is a free-for-all, everything goes kind of game, to the contrary. Chuck and I are both interested in a fairly historical game. Having read each others AARs, we came to the conclusion that our styles so similar that we would try a game without dozens of house rules (which would be inevitably incomplete), except the following:
- If you don't think a historical commander would have done it, don't do it in the game
- Don't do stuff you don't want your opponent to do
- Lets talk about all problems that might arise during this game
- Nothing technically impossible (to the best of our knowledge). E.g. no upgrading sub-based Glens.
- Let's fight hard but also do our best to keep this a fun game for both.
We have nevertheless talked about the most controversial issues (turn 1 rules, PT boats, PDU limits, ...) beforehand, and found out that we're really in line with what we had in mind for this game. For instance, I never had the intention to upgrade as many 2Es as possible to 4E bombers, and Chuck said that he would do a conservative turn 1 - which he did. So now it's my turn to honor our agreement...
