Am I missing something with the trenches and/or air recon? When I inspect a hex to attack it shows 0 trench level. Then when I attack and see the result I see an entrenchment level of 2+. Can I only see accurate trench level if I recon first? Is trench level subject to FOW also?

Trench level is the number that appears on the enemy unit.  If you don't recon it, it is the only number on the unit.
